CEO: Kiev needs 20 bcm gas reserves if Russia transit deal over
KIEV, May 14 (PRIME) -- Ukraine will need to store about 20 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas by winter in 2020 if Russia stops transit, CEO of energy company Naftogaz Ukrainy Andrei Kobolev said in a Facebook post on Tuesday.
“Discontinuation of gas transit across Ukraine by Gazprom in January 2020, when the current contract ends, is quite a possible scenario,” Kobolev said.
“Taking this into account… we are proactively pumping gas to underground storages. We need to store about 20 bcm of gas underground by the winter, the system will work sustainably in this case and guarantee supply of gas to all consumers.”
